Ok this shall be the last post of my free China trip. Last stop was in GuangZhou where we spent 2 nites and the hotel wasn’t anything near comparing to the first hotel we stayed in Macau. The whole GuangZhou, China thing is already creating a very big impact on perception on the group of students I was bringing. It couldn’t help to change this negative perception as everything we went through was not total disastrous but again in comparison to Macau.

img_0358

Before I leave for this trip, my mom kept on telling me there are a lot to shop in Guang Zhou. (my uncle used to work there), and can get even roti canai because there are demand for Malaysian food. But when I was there, ‘tak perasan’ also. And toilets are still the same, I shouldn’t comment cos its known to all.

img_0364

When everyone was busy shopping, we took photos around of the lightings and the crowded street.

First night only the Street No.9 walking around, we head back to the hotel. Checheck in, shower and lepak in the girls room. The next morning, we were allowed to sleep in later (till 7am) and after breakfast we depart at 8am for our city tour. Destination was not the highlight. Went to some memorial, park and then more SHOPPING in Beijing Street (yeah we were in GuangZhou but we get Beijing too)

So pictures were more entertaining so lets proceed.

Guess where is that???

Dr. Sun YatSen Memorial

img_0389

Then we went to the famous ‘five goat hill’. Why and how they named it like that, go google it :)

img_0397

(whatever that is written on the hill was supposed to be the name of the place I guess) We spent some time in the park letting the students experience the local cultural. Every morning and evening or in fact whenever they are free, (the locals older generation) they will hang out in the park and ‘exercise’ while socializing.

The students are typical city boys and girls, never experience any of this before and wanted to challenge the local crowd. I prayed hard they don’t malu-fy themselvesand true enough after a few rounds of practice among themselves, they gave up. Should have seen how flexible those ‘uncles’ and ‘aunties’ with that ‘bulu tangkis’.

img_0410

The maybe correct way, at least they can pass it around to three people before it went into the bush or hit another crowd.

Next will be the WRONG way…

img_0413

The stylo-mylo but never got the tangkis style.

img_0412

The I close my eyes and turn to the back so i can imagine better style.
img_0416

The ‘who said high heels cannot do sports’ style.

And many more styles they have created that i have no idea how to explain. some treat the tangkis as football, some as tennis ball so people just imagine how much sweat and what is the smell of the bus once we got back on the bus.

Later we were brought to the ‘Tan Library’. So they said it was build by the Tan families that were in GuangZhou to let they children have a place to study. Every Tan family contributed in the fund raising and some in construction to build this library and their kids can utilized the facilities.

What do you expect from the library? Books rite? but i found none and only an old structure with a lot of history behind it. After like two minutes walking around we went a lil restless.

img_0432

And this gurl just did that and ask us to snap a photo.

img_0445

Then two wanted to take a ‘jumping’ shot

img_0459

Then i wanted to jump into the pond with the gold fish.

img_0464

Then one was just posing with whatever she can see.

img_0463

Then we went around and find interesting stuff to make pictures look not so boring.

img_0439

Went to the garden and took group photo.

img_0443

and Check out my part time boyfriend.. OMG so ‘hiao’ to the max..

The rest of the day was not too picture productive. Went for the river cruise and one girl got so sick i had to skip the discussion session and went back to the hotel with her. Missed out the birthday batch celebration after the discussion and got a good rest for the next day’s journey back home.

Early morning check out and here i am, back in where i’m supposed to be safely.

p/s:Oh ya, Burberry in the airport was cheaper and i almost got the handbag but should i say ‘luckily’ or too bad i was in a hurry to catch the flight..Bye Bye Burberry..Anyone going to GuangZhou?

*Harap Maaf, Ini adalah pengendalaan sementara. Segala kesulitan amat dikesali.*

Was busy during the weekend for this and I’m diligently getting it ready to be posted up after my long winding travel post.

Cryst’s KALERFUL Day!

And the pie is such a pie. Wait for the post that will be up soon..

Ok Bai.

After the Ruins of St. Paul, ( we took a total of 10minutes just to stop cameras clicking) we walked down the small township. The architecture of the place is really nice. At one point, I felt like i was back in Lugano. Small winding alleyways. We were granted 45 minutes to walk around and input the surrounding (mainly for the student’s understanding for their written report later) Because it was still early, not many shops were open. Half the time we were just walking aimlessly around hoping that we could find a treasure shop by the end of the alleyways but unfortunately NO…:(

Following are the impacts of being in MACAU town but nth is open—>

Just taking photos with whatever we saw interesting

Then we got bored and not amazed anymore with Macau, we took more group shots.

img_03431

Finally, butt pose!! and we bid farewell to the town and head to Ah Ma Temple

img_0347

Streets of Macau early Thursday morning.

We reach Ah Ma temple and were supposed to ‘VISIT’ the temple but there was this cookies/biscuit confectionery just 50 steps away from the temple and everyone was inside the small shop to get the ever so famous Kon Kei (if i spelled the name correctly). By the end of the trip, when we were asked about Ah Ma temple, everyone kept quiet and one hero answered ‘i know its located near the biscuit shop’.. *fainted*

Next, (this is getting draggy) we went cross the border and reach CHINA and my colleague said to me ‘you must have felt at home now’ (NO…Just because I was there last year for almost two months, its not a place i would call HOME and get all comfy..shesssh)

Had some problems with two of the middle eastern student as the immigration took almost one whole hour for each of them just to verify their identity because their ‘hair had grown longer’ another *shesshhh* The rest of us waiting outside with our luggage and had to literally ‘tahan’ toilet urge cos:

1. We dont know where is the toilet

2. don’t know how long until the two Heroes get out

3. In a hurry to reach the restaurant

4. And the last reason is personal preference of ‘clean’ and toilets with ‘door’

So we stood and waited and waited and when we saw one came out, everyone cheered and clapped. The second one came out, half were clapping and quarter were jumping and the rest started to walk towards the bus so that we could reach the restaurant for the ‘leakage control’.

Had lunch= yucky then slept in the bus for 2 hour plus and reach GuangZhou. Dinner = better and we went to Street No 9.

img_0359

Walked around with high hopes of purchasing cheap stuff but ended up with disappointing outcome. The only highlight was you can find a lot of different insects that you can eat. (its true when they say, Chinese eats everything) I had a whole scorpion to myself, two dragon flies, a few maggots looking worms,  a few smaller version of maggots looking worms and two beetles and very tasty i-dunno-what- is -it.

As i was busy trying out all this exciting items, no photos from my camera and if you are still interested to find out,  click here —> *click*

Ok till my next destination…Gotta run now, Daddy’s day today rushing off to celebrate.. I LOVE MY DAD!!

Ok Bai..

As per the previous post, we had to cut short our night and after dinner we went around BY FEET to snap some photos. So they said, it was the nicest thing about Macau, the lightings that is the Asia’s Las Vegas. Night photos blurr blur.. go facebook and see those that ppl tag me. —> *click*

Bout half an hour walking around we reached Jackie Chan’s hotel, (sorry i forgot the name, was chasing some gastric students around.) they had gold bar. yes, GOLD BAR and diamonds all sealed under a panel on the ground. A LOT OF THEM. If only i could get hold of 1, i’m more than hapy already.

img_0202(check out the GOLD BAR and DIAMONDS)

img_0203(everyone went AWWWWww!)

After the Short Walk around session, we boarded the bus and head to the 5 Star Hotel. (everyone was half expecting to reach a dodgy Geylang style hotel but we were amazed)

Young excited people we are, let lose at 10pm and are required to be up and ready by 7AM, you think we will go to bed early? Not too sure bout the answers. So, me and a few went out to walk around the hotel area expecting there should be some kinda night life. We are in Macau where life begins at 10PM aren’t we? But to our disappointment, we came to a conclusion that night life in Macau means only in the CASINOS.

We ended up doing this—>

We were laughing non stop after that noone could hold the camera still anymore. We laughed and walk aimlessly around and ended up in a 7 eleven and some K Mart getting noodles and snacks we have never seen in our life. And we also had ice cream in the middle of the night. Headed back to the hotel for supper in the room. (seriously the cup noodles are damn huge i put on a kilo after consuming one cup, but damn yummy)

(no photos cos everyone changed into their Pj’s)

Comfy bed the first nite and we all got to slumberland and enough rest to last the entire trip.

Next day we woke up early and had the best breakfast of the trip and wne sight seeing. Went to the Ruins of St. Paul and took kazillions of photos..

(from the back)

(remember this group?)

Ruins of St. Paul is really nice for photos the tour guide actually told us on which steps we should be posing to get the best angle and background. And looking at the photos taken, was half hoping the ‘boy’ could be there to share. And guess what??

img_02931

I found the imitation version!!!!

(they actually has some  similarities)

Hmm.. there are more photos from that 17 hours and I’m leaving it for the follow up post cos i’m rushing for class again. :) Stay tune!!

Ok Bai

The first time when i announce my work position to my friends, they were in the ‘aww’ , ‘OMG’ and the ‘Are you serious?’ tones. And then i question myself, would this be the right choice of line. A close friend then asked me, ‘Are you gonna just stay put and work? I thought you would be in those line that would require you to travel half the month to some place half way round the globe.’ My answers back then was simple, I wanted to travel but I have to start some where with my career line and its not easy to find a traveling position. The only official one that i know is waitressing in the air and i was not about to throw my hard earned certificate away.

Well little did i know when i accepted the offer, that my work scope ’sometimes’ allows me to travel. I can say I’m pretty lucky to get to a few places along the way after my acceptance of this position. :) Some times it maybe local places but certain times I get to fly further and more than 2 hours.

This time round, I was arranged to accommodate 60 plus students on an International Tourism Trip to Macau and GuangZhou. I don’t have to do much though, the class organizing committee were pretty efficient in getting things in place. (well they have been planning for this since the beginning of the year!) All together there were three of us accompanying this trip to oversee 20 odd students each group. It was an educational trip, exposure and learning outcomes are highlighted. (subject based)

So we left for our first stop, Macau early Wednesday morning with a series of drama to follow till the day we got back. We were to meet up at 4am ..4 freaking AM when its the best time to stay in the comfy blanky. (don’t be surprise for thousand of photos up next)

img_0081

(My group leader doing all the work)

img_00831

(Everyone half awake but excited)

img_0084

(This bunch were the camwhoring boys all the way)

We got to the airport more than 2 hours ahead of time (bout 5plus and flight is ’scheduled’ to be 8AM.) And upon reaching, like 100meters before drop off point in LCCT, our tour guide got a sms saying the flight delayed till 11AM. Shesshhhhhh.. but we proceed to checking in anyways.

And at the check in counter, the kind lady told us ‘NO DELAY’ and everyone went..’YEEHHAAAA’ and tried to check in as fast as possible cos McD in LCCT tasted better than any other outlet la konon-nya.

It took about 1hour to be done with everyone in line and short briefing on instructions on boarding time and before we turn around to have a head count, everyone went missing. (so much fun goin for trips ya) I went to McD and saw half of the college there, some already eating, some still queing, some just  standing thinking if they should be ordering anything.

After the trouble of chasing the little chickens like a mother hen to the boarding area, we finally heard the stupid announcement saying our flight was indeed delayed till 11AM but the blardy notice board still shows, ETD 8AM. But on a happy note, LCCT is now much cleaner and nicer than the old ‘container’ style low cost terminal.

Waited and waited and waiting still they announced, its further delayed to 11AM.. and at 11AM they announce ‘ Attention to all passengers flight AK smth smth, please proceed to the boarding gate,  TO GET REFRESHMENT’ What the hell, I thought we are taking off at 11.  Once ‘refreshment’ were distributed out, they made another announcement to further delay till12PM. Everyone was like@#@!$!@#@!#@!$#~@~~ but its beyond our control.

We finally board and flew off at 12.45PM and guess whats the reason of the delay? ? Toilet overflow or cant flush or smth was just wrong with the WCs.

img_0089

And finally we are near Macau.

img_0092

(the plane with the kaput-ed toilet)

Went thru immigration with more dramas (shall leave it for another post) then boarded the bus and headed to Wynn Hotel as the staff were still waiting patiently for us after such delay.

img_0106

(the street of Macau)

(the famous Mother Mary looking ‘Kuan-yin’)

(and a tower that looks like KL tower)

And reached Wynn had a long presentation with great information about the hotel and by the time we finished, the sun was no where to be seen. And everyone was dying of hunger which very much forced us to proceed to dinner in some restaurant and rescheduled all sight seeing plans to the next day.

This is part 1. More to come in the next few days and i’m rushing for class now.

Ok Bai!!
